Al-Ashraaf Secondary School was established in 2012, in small premises in a Hackney backstreet. In a short space of time our success has enabled us to be able to move to premises in the heart of the City.
Now based in E1 permanently we aim to build on the solid foundations we have laid.
These foundations are a very successful Islamic Curriculum (our students’ progress in Hifz is nothing short of remarkable) and a National Curriculum provision that has now extended to encompass Key Stage 4 with the school able to offer GCSEs.
We take pride in our record for safeguarding children – which was highlighted by Ofsted – and maintain that strong commitment here in Tower Hamlets.
Al-Ashraaf has the capacity to expand further, our new premises offer exciting possibilities.
As part of our curriculum we offer special activities. Al-Ashraaf has “Extra-Learning”, at the rate of one each month, when the timetable is given over to a specific activity in which students and teachers join to learn but also to have fun. This term we have been growing germs (under supervised laboratory conditions), put England’s King Richard the Lionheart on trial with the students as the jury and next will be a day of investigating “Jack the Ripper”!
We are also initiating a special “Study Club” where a small number of students chosen for their hard work, good behaviour and high attendance are taken on extra educational trips in addition to the normal school visits to museums, castles, etc.
With fees set at competitive rates, teaching of a high standard and a building to be proud of we anticipate Al-Ashraff continuing to go from strength to strength insh’Allah.
